Orion Tide (Edition) I & II is a diptych featuring a desert landscape at night with what appears to be numerous spacecraft or vessels leaving planet earth. The landscape is highly detailed, beautifully lit by the rockets' burning thrusters, the heavy smoke plumes slowly fall to earth behind them. The horizon glows, the vast clear sky above shows hundreds of stars. Is this space exploration on a grand scale or is this some kind of mass exodus?
Modern Empire are pleased to announce a collaboration with Russell Maurice and Hole Editions to develop a new print edition. Russell works in painting, drawing and sculpture, creating and retelling tales of unlikely animate objects that seem to exist within their own realm, a spirit world filled with alchemical magic. He is developing a set of works for Modern Empire that feature some of those characters.

Modern Empire are delighted to announce publication of a new edition by Alec Finlay: a suite of 4 giclée prints entitled, SING/WILD/KIND/WOOD.
Each of the 4 prints holds one word, with the four letters from each word laid out in a grid, separated by a central cross. Reworking a line from American poet John Berryman’s Dream Songs, the formal structuring is typical of Finlay's ongoing work with found texts.
